Dear Friends and Supporters, For the last 7 days, I have nursed Benjamin around the clock. My 12 year old rescue dog Benjamin was run over by a quiet tesla at low speeds while we were walking inside a local school on Thurday night. We were doing our normal routine and I let Benjamin off the leash like we have done almost every day there for over 3 years. Benji veered off the sidewalk and into the teslas path. I quickly told the driver to stop but it was already too late and Benjamin was rolled over by 2 tires as the Tesla came to a stop. I was walking another dog who was on a leash and I wasn't able to move fast enought to stop it from happening. I didn't think Benjamin was going to survive. I got him to the ER about 20 minutes later. They found no internal bleeding or broken bones, but he had a severe wound on his leg, road rash, and trauma. His heart rate was 220 when he first arrived at MedVet before they stabilized him and checked for injuries. They did surgery in the morning and I picked him up soon after. Due to his body being so swollen and bruised, and the leg laceration through all the layers of his skin may have complications healing. His back leg may start to work soon or maybe when the stitches are removed in 7 more days. It has nerve damage that may heal. Due to his body being run over I'm interested in taking him to an animal chiropractor to see if pain can be eliminated and function restored. I'm documenting his road to recovering and posting on youtube. The videos unedited at the moment.I will share the link to the channel. Benjamin will require additional surgery or therapy to help his leg function again so he can live a healthy close to normal life again. His bills so far have total over $5,000. It is truly a miracle he is still alive. Your support to his recovery his greatly apperciated. I havent been able to work and really need to be with Benjamin at least another 2 weeks to keep him from licking his wounds and get him the care he needs. I sincerely thank you for your donations and prayers for Benjamin.
