Hello my beautiful family and friends! As most of you know, I am in the second year of my Master's Program in Orthotics and Prosthetics. I am learning how to make braces of all kinds and prosthetic limbs! So far I am super happy with this new direction my life is taking, even though I am diving back into the world of student debt. But let me tell you about an upcoming opportunity! For many years my school, Loma Linda University, has been sending volunteer Orthotics and Prosthetics students to Guatemala and Ecuador to serve along side the Range of Motion Project. ROMP is an amazing organization making prostheses for patients who could not otherwise afford or have access to them. From the ROMP website: "ROMP is an international non-profit organization dedicated to delivering functional, high quality prostheses and rehabilitation to underserved people with amputation. We offer support throughout their mobility journey, helping them to reclaim their autonomy and re-immerse themselves into society. ROMP operates permanent clinics in Guatemala and Ecuador. Our volunteer programs play a key role in ROMP's annual impact goals. Volunteers work alongside ROMP staff and local practitioners to provide prosthetic care to our most vulnerable patients, exchanging knowledge and skills." Knowing that I would likely never get a chance to do this again, and excited about getting a ton of hands-on experience in my new line of work, I signed up for the Ecuador trip from September 2-10th! I have paid a $300 deposit already, and planned to add the remaining $1500 to my ever-mounting student loans... But any help that can others can provide would be VERY much appreciated. Please check out the ROMP website to see some of the amazing services they provide : https://rompglobal.org/ . Thank you for checking out this page!!
