Hello I am reaching out to just get a few suggestions on what I should do. I’m a first time dog owner to my sweet fur baby Remi. Remi is such a joy to our family. I’m a LPN home nurse/Nicu nurse, and a single mom with a seven year old little boy. We got Remi 3 months ago from a rescue shelter. There was only three that survived from her litter. She wasn’t in the best of shape. I noticed a few weeks after getting her that she was limping and not wanting to use her right paw. I took her into the vet they confirmed that it was actually broken. Although she has insurance it still cost $2500 for the procedure. Thankful now she only has two weeks left with the cast. Fast forward to just last month I noticed she kept vomiting with her food. I changed her food twice, but the vomiting still persisted. I took her into the vet last week because she just stopped eating, but also had bad diarrhea. I felt like something else had to be wrong. We received some of the worst news yet. She has to get a bowel obstruction surgery. I was very shocked at the price being $7800. I love Remi with all my heart but I do not have that kind of money right now. I would love to save her as I’m told the surgery has such a great outcome. I just wanted to reach out and see if anybody else dealt with this is this caused the average cost. I’ve called three places and this was basically the cheapest. I just want suggestions to see have people gone through with their surgery or decided to put their dogs down. That’s the option that I got or she will just have a painful next few months before she would pass away. Thank you all again. Update: thank you so much for checking in on us. It’s been a long and rough week. Remi finally had her surgery Wednesday morning 7.19.23 We were denied that previous Saturday because I did not have the 75%. I begged and pleaded. They absolutely would not complete the surgery. Luckily lifeline was able to find me a vet in Auburn. It was pretty far but worth the drive. They too are pricey but they allowed me to put the 2500 down that I raised. I showed them my go fund me. I showed them that I’ve been working hard trying to raise the money, I was able to get a extra thousand dollars with my overtime to put towards the bill so that put me a little bit closer. I have a check up in two weeks to take her back. She had a small tumor prior to her surgery that they just removed. Now hoping for her to progress, I’m sorry for not keeping everyone updated. I’m trying my best I’ve been working my night shifts and my midday shift’s. My mom is here helping me with my son, so she is able to stay home with Remi. I usually take her to work with me, but she needs to rest and heal at the moment. I will try to continue to raise money to lower my vet bill. I just want to say from the bottom of my heart thank you so much for your donations and thinking everyone else will help me. I’m going to update the post as well. I’m trying to keep all the social media links updated between Nextdoor and Facebook. Thank you all again from the bottom of my heart please anyone who has donated let me know how I can pay it forward I would love too. Thank you all so much I appreciate you. ❤️
