UPDATE (07/31/2024): Reggie is scheduled for surgery on Friday pending ultrasound results searching for other tumors. UPDATE: We found out earlier this week that the biopsy came back as cancerous (osteosarcoma). The next step is to undergo an ultrasound to rule out other tumors and then amputation. This could happen as early as next Friday. The estimate received from the vet today is between $2,800 and $3,800. The amputation alone gives him a life expectancy of a median 2 to 4 years. Any help you could give helps us immensely. UPDATE: We have reached our initial goal of $750. We cannot thank you all enough for your generosity. Yesterday (7/19), Reggie underwent a lengthy biopsy procedure and we are now waiting on the results. We will develop a treatment plan and provide more updates at that time. Five years ago today, we brought our cats Reggie and Daisy home. Reggie was the runt of the litter and just over one pound at the time we got him. We cleared him of his food insecurity and he hasn't stopped eating since! About a month ago, we started noticing a lump on top of his foot. It really didn't bother him and he seemed to be acting normal. Last week, we took him in to the vet since the swelling hasn't gone down. After x-rays, the vet noticed a 4.5cm x 2.5x bonelike nodule. It appears to be cystlike in nature, but has some concern over a blurred attachment to the bone. In a couple days, he will be undergoing a small operation to see what the cause of the large lesion. We are crossing our fingers for a bone cyst, but it could very well could be an aggressive form of cancer. Depending on diagnosis, we could be looking at cyst removal, strong medication, chemotherapy, and/or possible amputation. These two vet appointments for diagnosis is going to cost at least $2,000. That's before any sort of treatment. We hate asking for help, but we are quickly finding ourselves in a situation where we need it. I am a full-time student who is also working full-time while my wife is a teacher who is also taking her certification course to continue doing what she loves. We will continue to do whatever we can to help Reggie, but could use your support. Anything you're able to donate to help support Reggie through these upcoming vet appointments would mean the world to us. We understand that there are many causes and needs that need your support. That fact isn't lost on us, but we are still left in a position where we need to ask for your help.
