From the 25-29 July, I competed in and completed the 20th edition of Red Bull Romaniacs Red Bull Romaniacs is the world’s longest and toughest off road motorbike hard enduro rallye. In 2024, over 700 competitors from 55+ nations will be competing. The event consists of an on-street prologue on Tuesday, followed by four long off-road days in the Carpathian Mountains, surrounding the Romanian city of Sibiu. As it was the 20th anniversary edition, the organisers to made this one more challenging than ever. We put together the best support team and race crew to date for the event. We have really upped our efforts in preparing for this year’s “The Impossible” edition. We have worked hard on improving the bikes’ performance and my own bike skills and endurance. I’m really grateful for the support and time I’ve been given from so many people this year. The following, in particular, deserve special mention: Brian and Aideen McGirr at BMG Motorcycle Training; Stuart Ward Personal Training & rehabilitation; Pat Mulvey and all at Lock Doctor Dublin; Ivan Toole; all at Proride; Stuart Quinn at Quinn Motorcycle Repairs; James and all at CCM Tallaght; Angela O’Sullivan at Shankill Physiotherapy; Enduromania in Brebu Nou; Marius, Adi, Chris, Rafa and all at No Mud Adventures in Romania. I’ve also been so well supported by John Donohue and all at Carne. John was the inspiration for upping the preparations this year by adopting a winning mindset and asking the question “How would you plan if you wanted to win the event?” In keeping with Carne’s motivation by being a force for good and changing the world for the better, I’m using this opportunity to highlight and support the work of the volunteers at Dublin Samaritans. My sponsors have generously given time and/or committed to make a contribution to support Dublin Samaritans. Taking part in this year’s event is entirely self-funded. I’ve set up a LFEBridge page that goes directly to the Dublin Samaritans. If you like to help me with this, you can donate here More information about Dublin Samaritans clg: Samaritans vision is that fewer people die by suicide.
