Hi, I am a single educator raising funds for my phenomenal twins, Ezekiel and Ayanna Rayfield. They are the youngest of 4 children and just started their freshmen year of college together. As the youngest and as twins, the expense of college is quickly becoming an issue; everything is multiplied by 2. This fundraiser will help provide them with a community based "scholarship" so that they may continue their schooling without the added anxiety of financial constraints. Ezekiel never asks for anything. To not burden me with daily expenses, he has been working for over a year as a baker's assistant. Before this he started a small business and sold homemade cookies and brownies at school during lunch. He even used a portion of his savings to buy school supplies for college. His other motivation to earn money is that his twin is unable to work due to a debilitating autoimmune disorder. For almost 2yrs we went to 5 different specialists and 4 different hospitals trying to get an answer to Ayanna's pain. She was finally diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome and IgA vasculitis. Her symptoms cause her skin to peel, extreme dryness, swelling of her legs, and a painful reddish rash on her legs and feet that prevent her from wearing shoes and impede her ability to walk. To make things more challenging, the treatment includes 6hr IV infusions that have added unexpected migraines to her daily life. We diligently track her symptoms, as we continue to work out a better treatment plan. Since August 2024, Ayanna has only had 3 weeks without migraine pain and gained 30lbs due to steroid treatments. Because of these autoimmune disorders, Ayanna does not have the physical stamina to both go to school and maintain a job. Over exertion triggers her symptoms and can leave her bedridden with pain. Regardless of her set backs, Ayanna is film studies major studying cinematography, lighting, and sound. She is determined to follow her dreams despite her current physical limitations. The funds raised will go directly towards the twins' tuition. This community scholarship fund will also free up more funds so that I can continue to provide for Ayanna's living expenses. It will also allow her brother Ezekiel to reduce his working hours and focus on his Computer program and Game design major.
