Hi, I’m Mary-Kate and I’m posting this from the Lajee Centre, Aida Refugee Camp in Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank, Palestine. I’m here with a group of 5 Irish and Welsh people - Bryony, Donncha, Roisin & Aoife. We’re honoured to be back here for the 2nd time volunteering in this camp with the most incredible people you will ever meet. They are living under the longest, most aggressive & violent occupations in history. This centre is a place of hope & sumud* for the people of Aida camp and surrounding areas. For the next 3 weeks our group will be helping out in the centre through providing English, physical work on the building of a kindergarten classroom and also working alongside some local people to teach workshops in various forms of communication to give the young people the tools they need to communicate their stories to the world, to tell the truth about Palestine. Every penny donated here will go to the Lajee Centre. We’ll be posting daily updates through our Instagram pages for anyone who’d like to follow our time here as we try our best to show you what daily life is like under occupation and apartheid. If you have any questions at all feel free to contact me. Please donate. Please send this link to people you know. Please share online. Thank you / Shukran *Arabic for Steadfastness
