Hey beautiful people, Belle, Divine, and Jojo here! We are three young Canberra dancers/choreographers who specialise in Afro and Hip-Hop. Through our studio (Passion and Purpose Academy), the three of us have been given the once in a lifetime opportunity of our first international tour; teaching and learning at studios across Europe. Through this LFEBridge, we’re reaching out to ask for your support. The purpose of this tour is connection and growth. This intense international training will also allow us to develop advanced skills, which we hope to to give back to the Canberra dance community, through teaching. Dance has always been our passion, and a massive part of who we are. Growing up, Belle always struggled to speak for herself. She didn’t want to take up space - she wished she was invisible. Discovering her love for dance completely changed her trajectory. It allowed her to communicate in a way that isn’t verbal, it grounded her when she was overwhelmed, and it allowed her to take up space in a way that felt natural. Her confidence, work-ethic, and resilience skyrocketed. Since then, Belle has fallen in love with the connection that comes from dance. She loves people, and she loves how dance brings them together. Her dream is to learn from, train and bond with movers from all over the world, and she will work as hard as needed to achieve it. For Divine, dance has always been a refuge for safety and healing for her. It is her comfort and makes anywhere feel like home. She loves it so much, but it hasn't always been easy. Whether it's been a lack of support, transportation challenges, or financial constraints, there has always been something in the way. As a result, she spent most of my years dancing within the four walls of her bedroom, never truly dreaming of the possibility of making something more out of it. Despite these obstacles, if there's anything she’s grateful to her younger self for, it's for never giving up on dancing: the thing that made her feel more herself. Dance has helped her process her emotions, communicate those emotions and overall, allowed her to discover and embrace her truest self. It has been her grounding force all this time. Now, meeting people and exchanging hearts through dance fills her own heart with immense happiness. Getting to see and hear the things that people hold deep in their hearts and share her own, without an exchange of words, and being able to understand it all and be understood is what makes dance so special to Divine. Her dream is to share her heart, her experiences and her story with as many people around the world as she can as well as hear as many stories as she can, about how movement makes us who we are. Jojo has been dancing since since she was a little kid. She’s always loved to dance as her dad was a DJ - always playing music. Dance makes her feel comfortable with herself and she loves expressing that. Ever since Jojo started with PNP she’s grown to be a mature dancer with incredible skill and has the ability to work with all kinds of dancers. She believes she still needs to work hard and will never stop doing what she loves. Jojo’s dream is to show her passion through dance. Jojo would love the opportunity to take her dance journey internationally to work with Artists, Dancers, Choreographers, etc. Through your support of this campaign, Belle, Divine and Jojo are hoping to overcome the barriers that have held them back and turn these dreams into tangible experiences. The funds raised through this campaign will be used towards accommodation and workshops during our 14-day trip across Europe. From this campaign, our first priority would be to cover the costs of lodging - whether it's hotels or other accommodations, to ensure that we have a safe place to rest. The funds raised will also contribute to workshop fees, allowing us to access valuable learning opportunities and continue honing our craft - an essential part of this trip. By participating in workshops led by experienced instructors, we can further refine our skills, learn new techniques, and broaden our artistic resumes. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant difference in our lives as dancers, and will aid in further developing Canberra’s dance scene.
