This is Nickie - he has had to recently be treated at an emergency clinic for respiratory distress. The cost of the oxygen treatment, tests, medicine and hospital stay came to a little over $2800. He is on the mend and we are so grateful for that, but the cost is way more than our small rescue can absorb. After paying the bill we only have about $2000 in our general funds to run the rest of the operation - food, gas, vaccines, and regular medical expenses. Our organization has helped to rescue and place 1000s of dogs in the local capital district area. We are called to help locate missing and lost pets. We have taken in dogs that other shelters couldn't - Nickie is one of those. He suffers from anxiety and is therefore only comfortable at his current foster. We have been painstakenly working with him to get him available for adoption. Unfortunately, since the pandemic our funds have been increasingly stretched thin. We have had to cut back on how many pups we can rescue. The continuation of our rescue and helping our local area is now in jeapardy. I know money is tight - but perhaps together we can save this rescue - anything would help. If you would prefer to donate via paypal (we can access the funds more quickly through that), please see our donate page at www.k9adopt.org Donate to Good Shepherd - Thank you for everything you do to help our furfriends in need.
