This past weekend, when Riley was home visiting us in California, his roommate accidentally let his precious Millie out of the house during a storm. Florida storms have severe thunder and lightning, which Millie is terrified of, so the poor girl just ran off. We received a call from a Good Samaritan who saw Millie on the side of the highway, scared, wet, and unable to move. She had been hit by a car, and the person who hit her didn’t stop. They left her there, on the side of the highway, to die alone in the storm. Thanks to the help of this stranger who found her, and coordinating everything from California, Millie was taken to an Emergency Vet Hospital. Riley took a redeye flight home last night and got to Millie at the hospital early this morning. Unable to walk, and in obvious pain, Millie’s tail still wagged when she saw Riley walk through the door and she tried as hard as she could to get up to greet her best friend. According to the vet, it appears that the car hit her from behind and dragged her, as her nails were all split and torn all the way down to the pads of her feet. She has spinal trauma and both ACL’s are torn. Thankfully there is no internal bleeding or broken bones, but she will need surgery to repair both ACL’s if she ever wants to walk again. Millie is only 5 years old. With the emergency room hospital bill from last night, the surgery and physical therapy she will need, Riley is going to be hit with an $8,000 vet bill. Millie is Riley’s best friend. She is his family. She needs this surgery. I am setting up this Go Fund Me account in honor of Riley in hopes that we can try and get some of the bill paid for him. Anything will help and your donation will allow his precious furbaby the ability to walk and run again. Please consider helping and sharing our story with anyone who might be willing to help with Millie's surgery. Thank you all so much in advance.
