Hi, my name is Chris and for those of you that don't know me that well my friends will tell you that my dog chaos means everything to me. A little over 24 hours ago he stopped eating and later vomited up clean water, seemed unusually tired, and slept the entire day. He is ten years old and sometimes he just has days where he doesn't feel the greatest. He's been known to be a bit of a drama queen and often pretends to be sick but the following day he's bouncing off the walls just fine. That isn't the case this time around. This morning I noticed the blue in his eye turned yellow, he struggled to stand up off of his dog bed and I immediately knew something was seriously wrong. I brought him in to an emergency vet clinic today and they charged me 1100 dollars up front to run blood tests which came back with high numbers for his kidneys and liver. They ran a test for something called Leptospirosis which came back negative but I was informed that this test can come back with false negatives and that the blood test results still pointed towards Leptospirosis. After talking to the doctor they urged me to let them keep him overnight, start him on medication for Leptospirosis, and transfer him to their advanced medicine team for further testing to verify that it is Leptospirosis as well as perform more accurate ultrasounds of his liver and kidneys. I agreed. Then they sent me over another deposit estimate for 5000 dollars. I maxed out my credit card to pay for this. If you know me, you know I almost never ask for help with anything. This time I have no idea how I can afford this without help. Anything at all would be greatly appreciated. Please please help me save my baby boy. He's is my best friend in the whole world. Im not ready to give up on him ***Update*** Chaos seems to be making some progress! His color is starting to come back in his eye! He's being transferred from blue pearl emergency vet clinic to his primary vet this morning to continue his treatments at a lower cost. He did come home last night, I was unable to get him to eat or take his meds. He did drink some water and he seemed to have a bit more energy then the previous day. I'm hoping this is good news for us! I will update again when I have more information. Thank you for all your support. This really means the world to me. I could never thank everyone enough! ***Update*** Yesterday chaos and I went to his primary vet. After doing some blood work they stated that almost all of his numbers are improving except one. The one that wasn't really budging is the one related to jaundice. His liver and kidney values are headed in the right direction! I'm hoping to get the lab results today for his leptospirosis. It's sounds weird to say this but we are all hoping it comes back positive. The vet wanted to hospitalize him yesterday but I informed them that I simply couldn't afford it. Instead they decided to inject an entire IV under his skin layer that would hydrate him over the next 24 hours. Poor chaos looked like a camel with a huge lump on his back. We were able to get him to drink some water, eat a tiny bit of wet food and also some dog treats at the vet. They decided to inject him with some anti nausea meds which was very painful for him. He screamed and yelped so loud it broke my heart. Other then that he was a very brave puppy with all the poking they did yesterday. Last night I got him to eat an entire bowl and boiled chicken and rice which was amazing to see! He got his meds and seemed to have a lot more energy then previous days. Although it feels like we are in the clear we are not quite there yet. If the lab results come back negative for leptospirosis they have to figure out why this treatment have been improving his overall health conditions. I'm hoping and praying for good news today. It really feels like chaos is going to make it through this and I really can't thank everyone enough for all the continued support. I've updated the picture from yesterday's visit showing him taking in water at the vet. I will update again as soon as I know more. ***Update*** We went to the vet again and his blood tests came back and his kidney and liver values are officially in the normal range!!! That's great news!!! He still doesn't have an appetite, his energy is still pretty low but the blue in his eye is completely back which is a great sign! Still no results from the lepto test yet. I'm hoping to get those soon so I can breathe a sigh of relief. It's been pretty hard to get him to eat even his favorite foods. I'm hoping his appetite returns soon because I worry a lot about him not wanting to eat with everything we've been through lately. I'm so happy my baby boy is still here with us. I really cherish every day that I've been able to spend with him since he got sick. As soon as I get the test results back I'll update again but for now it's all great news for my little guy!
