Our little buddy, Benny (aka Benjamin Button, Burrito Jones, Funny Tongue), is in need of emergent surgery. On October 19, Benny wasn't acting himself - he had a fever and was very lethargic. Josh and I decided to take him to the VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Clinic in Fishers Indiana. Upon arrival, the veterinary team performed blood work and xrays. They discovered some abnormalities with his blood and a mass-like area in his xray. We scheduled an ultrasound for this morning, and the great doctors at VCA Advanced Veterinary Care Clinic have discovered that Benny has a tumor on his spleen. For Benny to regain his happy, spunky personality, the tumor and spleen need to be removed. Without removal, Benny will eventually develop a bleed which will be incurable. We are also in danger of the spleen or tumor rupturing. Benny's surgery needs to be scheduled within the next two to three days to hopefully avoid any further risks. Benny is a rescue boy, and a very important member of our family. We want to give him every chance of recovering from this so he can continue to eat marshmallows, sniff around the back yard, and spend quality time with his sisters, Sweet Pea and Zoey. He is our little boy and we aren't ready to let him go just yet.Our furbabies are permanent members of our family, and we made a commitment to Benny when we rescued him to do everything in our power to keep him safe, healthy, and feeling loved. Unfortunately, Benny's emergent care costs are more than we are able to afford right now. We plan to do everything we can for Benny as long as he continues to fight to stay here with us.
