It is with great sadness that we have to share the unexpected passing of our close friend and rescue ally, Paige. She was a daughter, sister, and mother of three beautiful children. With all of the emotional heartbreak and stress that death brings, it also brings financial burdens. We are raising money for Paige’s family and children to help with her burial expenses. Remembering Paige As many of you know, the three of us spend a great deal of time trying to improve the lives of the street kitties in West Baltimore. Although our posts mainly focus on the cats, we’ve also developed strong relationships with some truly wonderful people when we’re out in the community. Paige was one of those special people. Paige’s dynamic personality and infectious laugh made her easy to love. What made Paige truly special was her desire to help improve the lives of those around her, even in the midst of her own personal struggles. Paige knew firsthand how painful life on the streets was. She went above & beyond to get at-risk cats (and people) off the streets and into safe, loving environments. She bravely carried sweet Security out of a drug hole in Park Heights and got him to safety in Juliann's car. He was being abused on a daily basis, and would not have lasted much longer. Paige didn't think twice about putting herself in danger to save him. After Asher was cruelly abandoned in PennNorth, Paige rescued him. He would have died from a raging untreated infection had it not been for Paige. Juliann’s foster numbers definitely increased after she met Paige, but that’s not a bad thing. Every foster added, was one less soul on the streets. Her good deeds didn’t end at cat rescue. Paige helped people too. When she heard that someone was giving Emily Walton a hard time about feeding, Paige headed to straight to the site and provided Emily with some much needed moral support. She spent countless hours with Juliann searching for (and eventually reconnecting) two people with their understandably worried love ones- Fawn can attest to this. When Juliann got a tearful phone-call from someone who was struggling in treatment, Paige knew exactly what to say to help get her back on track. That person is scheduled to graduate to the next phase of her recovery program next week. These are just a few of the lives that Paige touched. Although it is not for a lack of want or effort from Paige, as well as those closest to her, we’re heartbroken to report that she passed away last Friday. This is a truly devastating loss for her loved ones and for the rescue community. We are chosing to focus on remembering Paige for the beautiful person that she was. We are choosing to remember the countless good works that she did— and she did a lot of good. We are choosing to remember our friend for her enormously kind heart that will be truly missed. ❤️
