*we are currently trying to gather the money for her headstone all donations are greatly appreciated * My name is David Collins on July 21, 2024 my beautiful daughter blessed me and my wife Kenya with her presence. Looking into her eyes I felt at peace. My family was complete, she was given a clean bill of health and the next day we were discharged from the hospital. Excitement was indeed an understatement as to what I was feeling. For many who doesn't know my wife's pregnancy journey it was indeed a difficult one. She was diagnosed with Hyperemesis and the normal treatments for her diagnosis was ineffective. So, the entire pregnancy consisted of nonstop doctor visits, ER visits, IV treatments, vomiting, weight loss, and bed rest. So to go through months of that journey and this bundle of joy being the outcome we were filled with contempt. Our son Kylo was so excited to see Kori because throughout the pregnancy he would talk to her through mommy's tummy. To him he was his apple and no one else's. Within a few days of Kori being home we noticed a change in her behavior. she was more lethargic and began to show less interest in nursing. We rushed to the children's hospital hoping to find answers as to the cause of this sudden shift in behavior. The test ran raised more questions than answers. Kori was placed on multiple antibiotics and admitted into the hospital. Her condition didn't worsen at this point but it didn't improve either. Countless doctors were in and out of her room each one ensuring she was going to be okay and not to worry . A transfusion was recommended to improve her platelet levels so that a spinal tap could safely be performed. Once we saw that she was taking to the treatment we stepped out to go shower grab things needed for the stay and to see and love on our son. We came back to find out Kori had been moved to the PICU, her temperature had dropped and she needed to be placed in a warmer. We were reassured this was normal and they just want to ensure she is comfortable. As her temperature begin to rise back to normal levels the nurses then attempted to get a blood sample to see if she responded well to the transfusion. This was a difficult task and went on for about three hours with different people trying to get a good vein. when this was finally achieved she then begin to show a decline in oxygen intake. they tried to give her a mask but did not have one small enough. The doctor came to us and said that he was going to intubate her to allow her body to focus on healing. As we were being escorted out the room to the hall Kori heart stopped for the first time. We were in the hall hearing all the machines going off. My heart sank hearing them scream for epi and compressions. The fight for her life lasted all night but her body was tired and she didn't make it. Our baby girl gained her wings July 28, 2024. With the donations we received so far on here and by depleting our savings and through various fundraisers and blessings we were able to lay her to rest the proper way. However, we were not informed that where she was placed does not allow a stand up tombstone. In order for her to have a tombstone she must be moved the location that allows it. The donations provided here will go to her new placement and the purchasing of her tombstone. Any donation is appreciated and is one step closer to our baby girl being at peace. I want to thank you in advance for your donation and support and hope that you can find it in your heart to donate and spread the word.
