Hello, we are Mike and Kamra. Less than two weeks ago, we adopted an 8 year old puppy mill rescue dog named JJ. We knew that JJ would need some special medical care after a lifetime of neglect, but we didn’t know that so many urgent issues would arise so shortly after we adopted him. Besides paying for the adoption fees, all necessary supplies, a much-needed grooming, and some training classes to help with issues caused by eight years of being mistreated, we suddenly have some staggering vet bills. JJ needed additional vaccines, aggressive antibiotic treatment to treat two ongoing infections, and the vet says he will need all of his remaining teeth removed as soon as we are able to afford it due to extensive tooth rot. The first vet visit was $300, we have to go back for a follow up in three weeks which will likely be another $100 at least, and the estimated cost of the surgery is between $1200-$1800. We will do whatever it takes to keep his little tail wagging, but we could use some help. We love him beyond measure and just want to give him the absolute best golden years, starting with making sure he feels his very best. Thank you for reading our story, and thank you for anything you are able to contribute to help us out. UPDATE 8/26/23 It’s National dog day and also one month away from JJ’s surgery date! In addition to the tooth removal, he will need to have a mass removed from his foot (the mass was caused by the persistent infection we’ve been battling). This has brought our procedure estimate a few hundred dollars higher. Anything you can spare will help us get this little guy’s awful past behind him. ❤️
