UPDATE! UPDATE! UPDATE! Hello Everyone! We are so close to the goal! Just a quick update for the purpose of this LFEBridge. My sister is pursuing to be a veterinarian has found an outstanding and amazing opportunity to volunteer in South Africa for a program called, The Wild Life Vet Care Program. During the program my sister will be helping out the community of Chintsa, South Africa and help care and handle a variety of animals. Not only handling wild animals native to South Africa, but also agriculture animals, stray dogs, and reptiles to name a few. Your donations will help cover accommodation, food, and transportation during her stay South Africa. Thank you for consideration and support for this educational opportunity and life experience. Anything helps and will be greatly appreciated! HI EVERYONE! I’m Savian, one of Camille’s younger siblings out of 8, and I’m starting this LFEBridge to help my Ate Camille further pursue her dreams and career as a veterinarian. In Filipino culture, Ate is an honorific meaning “big sister”. If you know my older sister Camille, you know that she has always been a huge animal lover. Ate Camille is the first to graduate in our family as a first generation, worked hard in her life and school as she always figures out obstacles with integrity and upholds her duties with any line of work she does. Being the eldest child and raised in a strict household, my sister was the one that had to endure the expectations and responsibilities as the eldest. This entailed being like our second mother by taking care of us siblings at a young age, expected to set THE example and be role model; in her studies and uphold the chores around the house. As my sister grew up, she was able to break away from submitting to strict asian parents to follow her dreams and future, in becoming a veterinarian and living life to the fullest. This LFEBridge is to help further her career as she continues down the path of veterinary practice. There is an opportunity in Chinsta, South Africa, a pre-vet volunteer program called the The Wild Life Vet Care Program. The program is 3 weeks long, from November to December, which would help her get some hands-on experience with an array of animals including household animals, agriculture, and wildlife. Having the chance and experience would make her stand out as an applicant as she applies to her future grad schools, giving her hands-on experience and the opportunity to help out the communities there in South Africa. While working with the communities veterinarians, my sister can receive a letter of recommendation from the program, which is required for her grad school application. However, the cost of it all and plane tickets are way out of her budget and as wonderful as the program is, it is not cheap. With the donated funds, it will go towards her 3 week volunteer program and help cover airfare as well. The volunteer program will accommodate housing, transportation, and food. My sister has a lot on her plate as she prepares to study and get herself ready for the application process for grad school. Our mom does everything for and in her power to make ends meet for all of us, on her own. The majority of our younger siblings and grandpa are dependent on our mom so asking for help can be limiting at times since our younger siblings and grandpa are higher prioritized. My sister is also too stubborn and doesn't like to ask for help unless she works for it. Ever since she started college, she's worked 2 jobs while being a full time student and will continue to work through grad school too. Like our mom, my sister has pulled through to make ends meet and help me to the best of her capabilities. Even though she was strict on me when living under the same household, I look up to her and always turn to her for help. She won’t give up on her dream to be a veterinarian even if it takes her years to achieve it. Helping donate and share this story will help my Ate Camille get her foot in the door and a step closer. This is me giving back to her and it would mean a lot if you can donate and/or share. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much everyone!
