Noah and Preston Aarhus have been active Boy Scouts in Troop 393 for the past 4 1/2 and 3 years, respectively, and are working this summer to complete their Eagle Scout projects. Noah is going to build two wooden bleachers for the Upward Flag Football and Cheerleading League at Hillcrest Church of the Nazarene. Upward has been a ministry of Hillcrest for 16 years and hosts between 600-800 people each week during the season. The league is in desperate need of new bleachers and Noah is committed to raising $2100 to purchase the supplies and organize and lead a team to build them before the season starts in September. Preston's project is multi-faceted. He has a desire to restore the playground area at Hillcrest Church, making it safe and usable again. This project involves rebuilding four park benches, repairing the children's play structure, replacing the wood border around the play area, and purchasing and spreading 20 yards of cedar chips. He also saw a great need for repairing picnic tables used by concessions during the Upward season and also year-round by Hillcrest. To do this, Preston will be sanding and repainting the five picnic tables that are used regularly. Preston's project will cost an estimated $2900 and his goal is to complete the project by the end of August. Noah and Preston together have a goal of raising $5000 to benefit the Upward Sports Ministry, Hillcrest Church, and the many community groups that use the facility and playground regularly (including the Classical Conversations VanWest Campus). They are excited about organizing and leading these projects and hope you will consider supporting them in their efforts. Thank you!
