Namaskāra (Hello)! I am a young Nepali woman with a big dream and passion since my childhood: I have a keen interest in studying nursing in USA and need your help. My childhood was not easy: My two siblings and I were raised by a single mother. We were homeless for many months. There was no availability of good food, clothes, shelter or light. I literally studied by candlelight for so many years but also was able to earn top grades. I was a bright student and always have been able to excel in school. Since I was a teenager, I have always dreamt to be a professional nurse. I completed my proficiency certificate level of nursing with good GPA and passed my nursing license exam in November 2018. Since then, I have been working as a staff nurse in Nepal. I chose this career after I saw my mom fighting depression, reproduction problems, and other health issues for more than 7 years. I want to be a nursing leader, so that I could help many patients like my mom. My intention to study in the USA is to improve my English fluency and get practical based education which is far better than in Nepal and will enable me to get a better job and improve the practice of nursing in Nepal, including psychiatric care for which there is a lot of need, especially among women. After my graduation, I will get back to Nepal with my family and bring my nursing skills to House With Heart (a non-profit home for orphaned children) or work in a reputed hospital of Nepal. I will also serve as a leader for other girls and women like me. Would you be willing to support my goal? I have worked hard: I’ve been accepted to Norwich University in Vermont and secured a student Visa! I have received scholarship, and my sponsors are giving $8000 for my schooling: I still need to raise $18,000 by myself, so I am taking the initiative to do more to help myself. Every donor of $100 or more will receive monthly written updates by me about my progress in school for the first year (and any subsequent donation year) and will be offered a link to follow me on Facebook. Thank you for your consideration! Gauri Sapkota
