Last night, July 5, I came home to 2 horses down. One seizing and passed shortly after and one I spent 3 hours trying to save but to no avail. I am humbling myself to just about desperation at this point but that's just where I am in life. A few things...I desperately need help getting my horses transported to UGA for necropsy if anyone can help. It will require large equipment and a long flatbed trailer. I'm absolutely clueless where to even begin right now but need to get the necropsy done to go with the police report that was made. Now for the humiliating part. This is costly. For necropsy and cremation, I'm looking at roughly $1k per horse. Cremation without necropsy is $1650. I'm only going to necropsy one horse because their deaths were identical and within just 3 hours of each other so my vet has only sent one referral to UGA. Yes...we could necropsy for cheaper and haul their remains back home for burial but me and the kids can't handle that mentally. By the time we pay for transport back home and burial I don't know that we would be any better off financially. Period. Also the cost of the transport which I have no idea about. If you are able to donate please let me know. I can set up whatever account is needed or I can give you the phone numbers to contact directly so you can feel confident where your money is going. UGA diagnostic lab [phone redacted] Athens Pet Cremation [phone redacted] (for necropsy remains) Decease Pet Care (Bethlehem) [phone redacted] (cremation for horse without necropsy) I will get info on transport as soon as I figure that part out. Thank you to everyone who has been up all night with me and checked on us this morning. This is the most horrific thing the kids and I have ever experienced.
