Dear compassionate souls, We have a heartfelt story to share about a good boy who needs our help. Murphy, the spirited Doberman, has captured our hearts with his loving and goofy nature. He deserves a chance at happiness and security, but his journey has been far from smooth. Murphy's life started with a series of disappointments. Before finding his forever home, he was surrendered and adopted multiple times from shelters, until fate led him to a loving owner who cherished him for two wonderful years. Tragically, that chapter came to an abrupt end when his owner unexpectedly passed away. Left alone for days, Murphy's world was turned upside down, once again facing solitude and uncertainty, a tragic echo of his earlier displacement. Shuffled from place to place, he endured a summer filled with another series of failed adoptions, unable to trust or find the stability he yearned for. Now, after enduring nine placements in just three years, we are determined to right the course of Murphy’s life. He's been shuffled between homes and adopters, his trust shaken, and his needs often unmet. With overcrowded shelters and overwhelmed no-kill rescues, options have been scarce for us. Repeatedly redirected to Maricopa (a kill shelter), or confronted with lengthy waitlists at the Humane Society, we have been left with few alternatives. Many doors have closed, leaving us determined to ensure Murphy doesn't face a heartbreaking fate at a kill shelter. But now, we have the chance to make things right. Our commitment is clear: Murphy will continue to find a safe and loving haven with us, his interim family. But we're not stopping there. Although we have committed to Murphy’s care, we have extended our resources as far as they can go. We aim to secure the resources needed to ensure Murphy's journey leads to his forever home, where he can flourish and thrive. We have found the perfect candidates to welcome Murphy into their family with patience, love, and skilled knowledge, however, they are located in Texas, which is quite a journey from Phoenix. As the community that cares, we refuse to let Murphy's story end in fear and uncertainty. This is where your kindness and support become transformative. Your donations will provide Murphy’s daily needs, cover the weight of accumulated veterinary bills, and enable safe and emotionally supportive transportation to Murphy’s new forever home in Texas. Your generosity will also contribute towards supplies crucial for his safety, training, and well-being. Every dollar you contribute not only extends Murphy's journey from fear to hope, but also speaks to the unwavering power of community and compassion. Your contribution is essential to ensure Murphy's story transitions from one of displacement, to one of love, stability, and the promise of a forever home. Please see below for more specifics regarding expenses/distribution of donations. As we work tirelessly to secure Murphy's well-being, we extend our gratitude to each of you. Your kindness not only impacts Murphy's life, but also rekindles hope in a world that sometimes seems indifferent. Join us in this mission to rewrite Murphy's story—a story of resilience, compassion, and second chances. With heartfelt appreciation, Allison, Kelsey, & Murphy the Doberman (& Ottis the dog, & Steve the cat) *Medical Care: $507.12 - Upon falling into our care, Murphy presented with several biting ticks. After calling around to previous vets, we found through medical records that Murphy had little to no medical care, and was largely unvaccinated/expired vaccinations. It was of utmost importance for us to address these issues quickly, for everyone’s safety, as we also have a resident dog and resident cat. *Supplies: $212.55 - Upon falling into our care, Murphy was sporting a mangled/chewed up harness and leash, each hanging together by threads. Murphy is a strong and anxious 80lb dog who, at that time, demonstrated a superfluous amount of pulling on walks; a sturdy leash, harness, and collar were all of the utmost priority for safety and training. He also required training treats, and, of course, food (we went with the 50lb bag from Costco). Given that we live in a 1br apartment, enrichment for exercise/emotional well-being has been essential, such as toys of his own (our dog resource guards), and an occasional “sniffspot” rental to safely run in an enclosed space without the threat of other unfamiliar dogs/stimuli. *Transportation: $1517.42 - Murphy’s pending adoption will require safe and emotionally considerate transportation to get him to Texas. I’ve been quoted the amount listed for a small RV rental, and we are exploring other options such as a camper van, an enterprise car rental, or driving my own compact sedan (which would warrant lodging expenses, as opposed to dispersed/free camping). This total does not reflect expenses for gas or other needs that may pop up. UPDATE- GOOD NEWS! Due to your generous donations, we were able to secure transportation! And we were able to find an option that was more affordable than our original quote. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Any further donations will be used towards gas and accumulated miles as we travel. Photo receipt of booking is included below :)
