Hello friends and family! It’s that time of year again with the next school year starting right around the corner. I’ll be going into my 7th year as a teacher and my 3rd year at the Sussex Consortium. If you recall from last year, this is a school that specializes in working with students with special needs, particularly autism. I had another fantastic year with pre-k and know this coming year will be just as gratifying, difficult, and wonderful. Although I don’t yet have my caseload, I have an idea of what may be headed my way and it involves more students and a possible change to a bigger classroom. I know that there are things that I need to replace (all nasty area rugs, some broken toys, toys with missing parts, etc) and things that I would love to upgrade (better storage). I’ve had the same classroom theme for a while so I’d like to change things up and go with a Space theme! As you may know, teachers spend A LOT of their own money on classroom and lesson supplies/materials. Now that I have expanded my own family (love you Myles) it’s more difficult than ever to get the materials that I want to make my classroom organized, inviting, fun, and appropriate and to also create engaging, fun and also appropriate lessons for my type of kiddos. The cool area rug that I want for example for circle time, calendar and play time is $150 alone (it has to be large enough to fit all of my students and durable!) If you are looking to contribute, my team and my students will be so appreciative!!!! I was ecstatic with the money raised last school year and was able to get really important items, but classrooms are ever evolving and upgrades plus materials for lessons throughout the school year burn a hole in my pocket every year (even trips to the dollar store! lol) Please know that every penny raised will go to my students Thank you in advance for your kindness and support!
