The family, friends, and Harper Creek Alum were all devastated to hear of the brutal passing of Missy Head. I am sharing what her sister wrote for those who have not yet heard. "Thursday evening, Missy was riding home on her electric bike, when she was assaulted/robbed by 5 individuals. They left her with a concussion, black eye, part of her ear torn off and staples to the back of her head. All they got from her was her Gatorade. Friday morning, she spoke to my mom and said she had a really bad headache and just couldn't get it to go away. Her friend drove her to work Friday and within 2 hours she called her friend to come pick her up because her headache was so terrible. Her friend asked her if she wanted to go to the hospital. She declined and just asked to simply sit in her car for a bit. Missy never got out of the car. She was found early Saturday morning still seat belted in. Florida detectives have been in contact with us. They informed us they have video surveillance of her attack. They are awaiting the results of her autopsy, which will be performed tomorrow" Missy had such a loving and funny disposition in life. From being the person who would give someone the shirt off her back, to always having something funny to say, she was a person that so many of us called friend, no matter where she was. The family would like to start a scholarship fund up in her honor and remembrance at Harper Creek Community Schools. Many people have been asking the family what they can do, and this is their wish. They also will receive donations for Wattles Park Men's Club. Missy did not have life insurance, so this fund will be allocated to the scholarship as well as funeral expenses, and expenses with traveling to Florida to collect her belongings and getting Missy back to us. No parent ever plans for final expenses for their children, it's unnatural. No parent plans to be sitting in a funeral home planning their childs funeral. It was such a senseless, hateful way in which Missy was taken from us. Please consider a small donation to keep Missy's positive, funny and loving legacy alive. All donations will be obtained by Gary and Donna Head for final allocations of funds.
