*** ENGLISH VERSION BELOW *** Hallo liebe Go Fund Me Gemeinde, mein Name ist Aisha und ich bin 20 Jahre alt. Zur Zeit lebe ich in Kairo. Ich bin erst letztes Jahr nach Ägypten gezogen. Ich komme ursprünglich aus Syrien, und wie Hunderttausende an Landsfrauen und -männern sind auch wir vor dem schrecklichen Krieg geflüchtet, der unser geliebtes Heimatland bis heute sehr destabilisiert. Ich bin nach Ägypten gekommen, um hier Medizin zu studieren. Es war gar nicht so einfach aus der Ferne das Visum zu beantragen, die Bewerbung für die Universität vorzubereiten, einen Englischkurs zu belegen, und das alles noch parallel mit Nebenjobs zu finanzieren. Aber ich bin hartnäckig und wenn ich ein Ziel vor Augen habe, dann verliere ich dies so schnell nicht aus den Augen. Gott sei Dank ist mir der Platz an der Uni und das Visum dann wirklich angeboten und genehmigt worden, ich konnte es kaum glauben. Als ich dann in Kairo ankam, war die Umstellung an die neue Umgebung zunächst wirklich ein Schock für mich und ich brauchte eine Weile, um mich zurechtzufinden. Mittlerweile, 6 Monate später, habe ich ein kleines, aber feines WG Zimmer gefunden, die ersten Prüfungen abgelegt und einen besseren Überblick, wie das Leben in Kairo so abläuft. Was ich nicht wusste ist, dass Kairo neben den Unigebühren gar nicht so kostengünstig ist, wie ich es mir erhofft hatte. Um weiterstudieren und leben zu können, brauche ich jährlich circa 18.000 Euro. Davon muss ich 6.000 Euro Uni / Semestergebühren im Jahr zahlen. Mein WG Zimmer plus die absolut nötigsten Lebensmittel, ebenfalls Fahrkarte, Krankenversicherung und Rechnungen (z.B. Strom) kosten 750 Euro im Monat. Ich muss Bücher und Lernmaterial selbst anschaffen, z.B. meine Krankenhausbekleidung, Gewebe und Knochenproben, Equipment, wie z.B. Stethoskop und Blutdruckmanschette, Laptop für Hausarbeiten und muss auch noch extra Kurse belegen, das beläuft sich insgesamt nochmal auf mindestens 2.000-3.000 Euro im Jahr. Aktuell werde ich so gut es geht mich selbst mit Nebenjobs über Wasser halten, und mit der Unterstützung meiner kleinen Familie. Jetzt im Oktober 2024 habe ich mein zweites Jahr, also das dritte Semester, begonnen und muss 6.000 Euro Studiengebühren zahlen, von denen ich nichts habe. Ich muss auch meinen Aufenthaltstitel jährlich verlängern, was zusätzliche Kosten erzeugt. Was mich unter Druck setzt ist, dass alles spürbar teurer geworden ist und die Lebens- und Studienkosten von Monat zu Monat steigen. Ich habe täglich mit vielen Schwierigkeiten und Herausforderungen zu kämpfen. Aber mein Wille ist stark und ich weiß, dass wenn ich eines Tages als Ärztin arbeiten soll, dann werde ich das hier schaffen. What I didn't know is that, aside from the university fees, Cairo isn't as cheap as I had hoped. In order to continue studying and living, I need around 18,000 euros annually. Now in October 2024 I have started my second year, i.e. the third semester, and have to pay 6,000 euros in tuition fees, of which I have nothing. I also have to renew my residence permit annually, which creates additional costs. What puts me under pressure is that everything has become noticeably more expensive and the costs of living and studying are increasing from month to month. I struggle with many difficulties and challenges every day. But my will is strong and I know that if I have to work as a doctor one day, I will do it here.
