Butch is a miracle dog. Prior to our finding each other, he sustained terrible mistreatment and trauma, and despite this fact he is the most loving, trusting heart imaginable. Everyone who meets him can see this right away. I pulled him off the street in September 2019 with the help of my dear friend Carla, and with YOUR donations, we were able to get him the needed medical exams, neutering, licensing, rehabilitative training, and bedding to set him up for a good life in a forever home. After he’d gone through weeks of training at a facility where he boarded, I brought Butch home to foster until we could find him the perfect forever family. Within a few days of his being home with me it was clear that Butch is my dog and I had to keep him. Covid hit several months later, and had it not been for Butch, I don’t know how I would have made it through. He was my only companion and source of physical contact/affection throughout, got me outside several times a day on walks, and when during the pandemic (which was tough on absolutely everyone) I suffered the worst depression I’ve ever experienced, he damn near kept me alive. As a trauma survivor myself, there’s been something only Butch has been able to help me accomplish in my healing, including getting the medical help I’ve needed for my own mental health. Butch, who is approximately 6 years young and has been in stellar health since I’ve had him, is having some acute medical issues. Symptoms started to arise just two months ago, and have been ramping up since then, culminating in seizures this past Tuesday for which he needed emergency medical care. He’s been in pain and very weak since then, and blood tests and x-rays have revealed elevated liver levels, an abnormal shape to his spleen, and diminished spacing between several of his vertebrae (which is causing him significant back pain). Beyond these clues, we’ve got no idea what he’s dealing with without further testing. He’s in need of an abdominal ultrasound, a neurological evaluation (including an MRI) in order for us to get some clarity on what Butch has going on. This information will help me help him… to determine what we’re dealing with and whether it’s treatable to the extent that years more life of happiness & health are possible for him, or if in order to alleviate his suffering I can help him transition from this life to the next via euthanasia. My heart is breaking for him, and it’s my priority to get this deserving boy all the help I can as quickly as possible. Vet bills so far this week have reached $1500, and the estimated costs going forward just for diagnosis and pain management breakdown to the following: Neurological Evaluation, Mon 7/31 $275 MRI Brain Scan starts at $6100 and could go up to $8000 Internal Medical Evaluation & Abdominal Ultrasound $850 Pain Management $500- $1000 I would be so grateful if you’re able to chip in a few dollars— no amount is too little — and/or forward this link to anyone you can think of who may be interested in helping get Butch the treatment he needs. you have deep & heartfelt gratitude from Butch & me for your time and consideration. Thank you. ❤️ Wade
