We are grandparents of Cole Thompson and Audrey Clark’s dog, Trevor @trevor_furever. On Friday, July 21, Trevor was not acting himself and was hesitant to move and refused to eat. They decided to take him to our local Pets ER first thing on Saturday, July 22. They felt that he had had some type of injury that was musculoskeletal in nature and prescribed steroids and NSAIDs and advised that if his condition deteriorated, he would need an MRI to more accurately identify the issue. Pets ER does not have MRI capability. On Sunday morning, they woke to Trevor not being able to use his back legs. They rushed him to Chesapeake Veterinary Referral Center in Annapolis for emergency care and an MRI on the recommendation of their local vet Layfield Veterinary Services, which showed a herniated disc T13-L1. Despite their best efforts at home (stairs for the bed, etc) to avoid this, the worst had happened. They called in the neurosurgery team and Trevor had an emergency right side hemilaminectomy (they cut into his vertebrae to make a “window”) to remove disc debris and hemorrhage around his spinal column. His spinal cord was bruised. Because they acted so quickly and thanks to Dr. Megan Boszko and the neurosurgery team, his chances for complete recovery are 95% (with maybe a little limp in his gait). He had movement of his left foot and deep pain response in his right foot... all great signs. They were finally able to see Trevor on Tuesday, July 25. His post-op course was a little complicated by nausea and vomiting. They stayed in Annapolis to be close to their boy. They were able to bring Trevor home on Wednesday, July 26th and are now focused on his physical therapy and recovery. As you already know, Trevor means the world to this entire family and we would do anything to give him a chance at a long and happy life. We are humbly asking for any help you care to give, whether it is prayers, good vibes, sharing this page, or the gift of funds if you have it to spare. The total cost of Trevor’s care, surgery, and hospital stay was just shy of $13,000. Cole and Audrey would be grateful for any assistance. Any amount gifted over this amount will be donated to the surgery center for those who are unable to pay for surgery for their beloved pets. With gratitude, Trina and Curt Thompson, Cole, Audrey and our entire family.
