My name is Max. From a young age I’ve wanted to fly helicopters. Whilst at Backwell School, I met two men who flew to Weston in a Hughes. I asked if I could fly it. My father said it was unlikely they’d allow someone 15yrs of age to do such a thing. Max, 15yrs being seated in a Hughes 300C. Nevertheless, I received a lesson from ex-RAF instructor Dave Lewins, proving my father wrong as I held the machine in a hover. I'm raising funds for my commercial pilot's licence training. I aspire to fly for the offshore energy industry in the near future. I require £60k for my instrument rating. If you can help achieve that, I’d be eternally grateful. The photo above is from the cockpit of an R22, flying over the Malvern Hills area. To date, my family have contributed to the costs and while doing a part-time job, I've trained for and completed my private pilot's licence. I’m over half way through the theory exams required for the next stages in my training. Pictured here is the type of helicopter I aspire to fly, an Agusta Westland AW-139 Below is an R22 - the helicopter I've used for my training and which I will use for the commercial licence. Commercial pilot's licence training involves a minimum of 35 flight hours with an instructor, including flying at night and cross-country. I intend to start this in 2024, once I’ve completed the required exams. The ability to fly complex aircraft in adverse weather conditions is required for flight over the sea. Pictured below is the H135, the aircraft used for the instrument rating and a simulated cockpit for this aircraft - used for a substantial portion of the training. The instrument rating is costly because it requires the use of large, complex helicopters. I am eager to commence this training upon completion of my commercial licence in 2025, gaining sufficient capital for the instrument rating is the biggest hurdle to get over. The above photo shows me, age 6 in the cockpit of a 1984, Westland 30. If you would like to help accelerate my training with a donation, I would be very grateful. Thank you for showing an interest in my fundraiser. Max
