Hello, my name is Brenda Wilson and I am fundraising for a memorial tree in Brantford for my Aunt Mary. Mary Hammond was reported missing after she did not show up to work on September 8, 1983. I was 12 when our lives changed forever. With advances in DNA, the Brantford Police Service was able to identify her killer in June of 2024. Although there is that small amount of closure, we still have not brought her home for a proper burial as she has never been located. Mary was a beautiful daughter, sister, aunt, wife and a great person to all that knew her. When my Mother met her, she was 4 years old and she was climbing up in a tree. When she married in 1983, she still loved climbing trees. The cost of the tree is approximately $1356. This September will be the 40th anniversary of her disappearance and the case is still open. We want this memorial, at Mohawk Park, a place she loved to climb, to keep her memory alive with the hope that someday she will be found and we can lay her to rest. #climbatreeformary #maryhammond
