Hello, I started the fundraiser on behalf of someone that reached out to me for help. On July 4th, Luna escaped her yard and got lost in San Antonio. For days, her family put up flyers and spent every night checking the local animal control facility. About a week later of looking for her, they FINALLY came across her photo on the website for Animal Control. They went down the very next day to pick her up but they were informed that she had been brought in after being hit by a car and was suffering from a severe break in her leg. They immediately rushed her to an emergency clinic to find out her leg wasn't broken in one place but in two different places in her upper leg. They quoted her $9,000 for the surgery. They went to another clinic in hopes of getting a second opinion and that the price would be cheaper. Unfortunately, that vet just recommended amputation as it would be much cheaper but still at the cost of $1,500. Luna is only a year old. If we can save her leg, we need to give it a fighting chance. No one can ever be prepared for a situation like this and the family was desperate to get her help. Animal control also gave them 30 days to get the broken leg fixed or they would take her back for euthanasia. The family wanted her to get help so badly that they reached out to me in hopes a rescue could take her in to get her the surgery knowing that she would be adopted out to a new family. All they cared about was getting her better. There are enough animals in Texas that are looking for homes and not enough responsible and caring owners like hers. Giving up your pet is never an easy choice to make and it is just as hard on the pet. I would love to be able to see Luna stay with the family that cares for her so much. I have seen miracles happen time and time again when it comes to animals. We need this to be one of those miracles. Please consider donating. Every single dollar helps and will go directly towards her surgery and after care. We will be getting one final opinion on Monday or Tuesday and will post the estimate once we have it. If you cannot donate, please just share and help us help Luna.
