Lone Star Theatre Company, which has presented 'Texas Pages on New York Stages' since 2012 is making it's triumphant return post-covid shutdown with a new team at the helm! Alexandra Castro (she/ella), Ollie Corchado (he/el), Lillian Andrea De Leon (she/ella, they/elle) and Maria Isabella Rojas (she/ella) lead the company into it's newest chapter as the Artistic Collective of Lone Star Theatre Company (dba Lone Star Media). Our first production as Lone Star Theatre Company aims to: provide opportunities for an all Latine/BIPOC cast, crew, design team, and highlight an important story from the Texas/Mexico border. The award winning play, Aztec Pirates, Part One: The Insignificance of Life on Mars by David Davila, has been in development since 2017 through 10-minute showings, developmental readings, staged and digital readings. The next step is to fully realize the show in a theatre with light and sound design, fight and intimacy coordination and rehearsals with our talented latine actors. The producing team is a passionate group of artists who have been attached to the play's message and story for 7 years. We are ready to bring this play to audiences and showcase a piece of the Latine diaspora for New York City audiences. But, we need your help. What is happening at the border is inhumane, dehumanizing, violent and cruel. The more we uplift these stories, the more we talk about this in our art/news/media, the more opportunities we have to bring awareness and inspire others to be agents of change with us. All donations collected are going to production costs such as: Cast/Crew/Creative Team [approx. $13k - $17k] Theatre Rental [approx. $4k] Rehearsal Rental [approx $3k] Props [approx <$1k] Costumes [approx <$1k] Supplies (Scripts, Binders, Highlighters) [approx <$1k] Marketing Initiatives [approx $2k] ADA Services (hearing devices + ASL interpretation) [approx $2k] Coordination for Post-Show Talkbacks [approx <$1k] Our stories deserve to be told. Storytelling holds power. If today's theatremakers won't allow us the space to share our message, we will create our own. Thank you for your support and we hope to see you at the theatre!
