Little Dog, my rescued from the farm fields Rat Terrier needs life saving back surgery. She was "broken" during play with other dogs. She is 7 and otherwise healthy. She has what is probably a ruptured or slipped disk. We are unable to know for sure without an MRI, and the Neurologist prefers to complete the MRI as a presurgical tool with an expectation of going directly to corrective surgery. Per the Neuro consult at Southeast Veterinary Neurology, Little Dog's post surgical prognosis is good, with an expectation of a high level of quality and normal function. Her prognosis without surgery is euthanasia. She is so profoundly affected that she will not be able to continue in her current state. This is very difficult for me, as I am not one to ask anyone else to assist with the costs of my rescues or my animals, however, the MRI and surgical costs are $12,000.00. There is no way that I can cover all the costs for providing quality of life for Little Dog. She is loved by her sister from another mother Tigger, and Sherbie and Obi her cat besties, not to mention by me! I am very distressed to know that we can fix her, but it's cost prohibitive and leaves only one alternative. :-(. So on behalf of Little Dog, and the love of dogs, I ask, if you will help in any way that you can, so that she can have life-saving back surgery.
