After some concerning behaviors from my sweet Maggie over the last month (shaking, not eating, refusing her meds, losing weight), I took her to the vet for an exam and testing. Maggie's vet discovered she has a Grade 2 heart murmur, and she is also recommending an ultrasound, as there are strong indicators for possible liver or intestinal decline in functioning. Last April (2024), Maggie tore her right ACL and I made the choice for home care due to her age and cost of the repair surgery and rehab afterwards. It's hard for her to get around, but she is so good at using her ramp into the yard, LOVES her stroller walks, and still wants to hunt everything that comes in the yard. Going through that together was extremely difficult, and unfortunately maxed out my Care Credit account for her, but she is strong and stubborn and wonderful even so. Following my own traumatic injuries last fall, I spent the majority of 2024 receiving significantly decreased wages due to time out of work and pain preventing me to go back to my second job. Nearly a year later, I am currently back working 2 jobs and before our most recent vet visit, had finally reached a point where I was no longer financially struggling to survive between paychecks. Chronic pain prevents me from being able to pick up more hours at my second job, and I'm unable to afford the tests and treatment Maggie needs right now without going back underwater financially. Maggie has been my best friend for the last 12 years of our lives together, and she immediately charms everyone who meets her. She now gets to be the best Dog Cousin to my nephew and insists on being near him wherever he is in the house. She and I would so greatly appreciate any help you can give, so we can see what's going on inside her little doggie body and get her the help she needs. I have no idea how much possible treatments will cost without a look, but everything extra above the cost of the ultrasound will be going towards ongoing medications, treatment, and paying down her Care Credit debt. If you don't feel comfortable donating through Go Fund Me (totally understandable!), Maggie's wonderful vet's office information is listed below and can take account credit directly. Thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts, Sarah and Maggie Mae <3 Morris Animal Hospital 14546 IN 23 Granger, IN 46530 574-271-1909
