Hi friends, this is Juliette. It's running season!! Last year, I set a goal to run 30 miles and asked my closest friends and family to pledge $1 per mile to support the "Kobi C. Rapada Memorial Scholarship." It was challenging in the Florida heat and humidity but so rewarding! I learned to love running (most of the time) and even joined my school's cross-country and track teams. My grandma created this Scholarship to help others and to honor her son, Kobi. The Scholarship recognizes Bainbridge High School graduating student-athletes whose character resembles my uncle Kobi's, who tragically passed away in a house fire at age 17, a few months before graduation. With all the generous donations last year, two Bainbridge Island High School seniors received the Scholarship. The 2024 recipients excelled in their respective sports, and it was through basketball and gymnastics each found connections with friends and coaches that helped them overcome obstacles during challenging times. Being part of a team and competing relentlessly with supporting teammates is where they excelled, felt their best, and, as one coach shared, "felt happy, fulfilled, learned determination and patience." These scholarships are helping them pursue their dreams of going to college. Although I never got a chance to meet my Uncle Kobi, so many family and friends have shared that my brother Rocco holds the same competitive and fun-loving spirit that he had. With this, Rocco and I will be running 100 miles combined by the time we leave for Texas in August to drop off our brother Enzo at Baylor University! How can you support us? Our goal is to raise $3,000 to offer two scholarships next year. Please consider donating to the "Kobi C. Rapada Memorial Scholarship" to help support student-athletes who embody my uncle Kobi's character. You can pledge $1 per mile or what you are comfortable donating. All funds raised will go towards the Scholarship! Feel free to share this page with friends and family! Even a small donation can help future student-athletes achieve their college dreams and honor my Uncle Kobi's legacy. We will share our progress on this Go Fund Me page and Facebook, and we hope you will continue to follow our race to 100 miles. Thank you for being so supportive!
