Osu, my name is Mya Firlotte and I am a 16 year old green belt. I am privileged to be provided with my first opportunity to compete and train internationally. November 17th I will fight in the Youth World Karate Championships, in Tokyo Japan. I will also be spectating the 13th World Open Karate Championships. This event occurs every 4 years and is the equivalent to the Olympics of Karate. Mt. Kiyosumi is a historical, sacred training place of Sosai Oyama. It is considered to be the birthplace of Karate and I am honored to attend a training camp aswell as a memorial ceremony that will be held by Kanhco Matsui. I have been practicing kyokushin karate since the age of 5. Nearly 12 years later I continue to train countless hours aswell as teach at my dojo in Banff Alberta. Karate has taught me discipline, confidence and will continue to be a crucial part of my life. It is not just my passion as it is a part of my life journey. The next step to my journey will require a considerable financial commitment and unfortunately there is no government funding or support for young athletes like me to compete at the international level. That's why I’m turning to you for a helping hand. These funds will go towards essential expenses such as airfare, accommodation, meals, uniforms, gear, training camp costs, and other competition-related fees. So, I am reaching out to you, my friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers who stumble upon my story - asking for your support. Every contribution, no matter how large or small, will bring me one step closer to Japan and help me continue my journey. If you're unable to donate, that's perfectly okay. You can still show your support by sharing this campaign within your circles. Every share broadens our reach and brings us closer to our goal. In return for your support, I promise to give my best performance at the competition and to keep you updated on my journey, the preparations, and the competition itself. This isn't just about competing, it's about growing, learning and gaining new experiences. Thank you in advance for your support. It truly means more than words can express, and I am immensely grateful for any assistance I receive.
