Hi my name is Rochelle Hawks. This is my father, Robert Eugene Hawks… 1/27/1938 - 6/6/2024. LFEBridge is needed to help raise funds for a memorial as well as legal assistance for probate costs. My family and I are trying to preserve my fathers passion & legacy. Here’s a brief summary of his life story… My father lived a pretty long life but was eventually struck with leukemia. My father worked from the time he was a teen, he worked for Arco for about 30+ yrs, driving tankers, retired early & bought himself a diesel truck & continued to work as his own trucking company. He worked well into his 70’s. He & my mother were married literally as kids 15 & 18 & pregnant, They together had 4 children, 1 which died at 2 weeks old. They later divorced after 15-20 yrs together, but remained friends. Both remarried very happily, & both lost their life spouses to an early death. My father’s wife Nancy died of brain cancer in her mid 50’s and my dad was devastated. My Dad began racing at 20 yrs old he and my grandfather built his first micro midget racer #88. He won races with that car, and his passion remained throughout his life. He eventually decided he wanted to race again, & bought his pride & joy, a 110 Offy 48-49 championship car owned by the Spickler Brothers and driven by Roy Bowe in RMMRA. The infamous plaid car… He also bought a newer Ford Focus midget… He built a house in & moved to Apple Valley, ca, where my brother lived. He got with my brother & my cousin, Thomas Dyer & put together his little race team with himself & my brother driving & my cousin as his pit crew chief… They had a blast, a true love… before my dad died he got lonely & befriended a lady neighbor that moved in next door to him, & eventually he decided to marry, after deciding to try his luck at a new business in Texas, an investment that his new wife, Janalee’s son, Sean found this investment opportunity… well my dad bought property in Forney Texas, put baseball fields for teams to practice on his land. Then built a house there. He & Janalee & her mother moved out there, & eventually janalee moved her daughter, husband & family moved in… after 5-7 yrs my dad became sick. He was a real stand up guy, even if he felt he was wronged, he always found it his own fault… anyway moving along… He sold the Ford Ficus midget, but kept his pride & joy…. The Offy midget champion car, the #3… He recently passed in June of this year, and the vintage race car as well as all his personal belongings are at his house in Texas. ALL OF HIS FAMILY, surviving children live in California. We all visited out in Texas when we found out he was sick, (he didn’t tell us right away). Later we all had only FaceTimes and texts with our dad… our grieving process has been denied by my dads last wife, Janalee Lancaster Hawks… she has not allowed any of my family to go to his house & see, touch, feel, keep any of his personal belongings… including the vintage midget car, which we are afraid she will sell before we ever see it again! We were also informed by his wife, Janalee that she had to put his dog down ON THE SAME DAY MY DAD PASSED!!! I dont understand how anyone could possibly bring themselves to to that… She claimed he had a large inoperable stomach tumor… We all saw this dog in Feb. & he was fine, & only about 6-7 yrs old. Idk, but I feel like she just didn’t want him anymore… my dad loved that dog… and I don’t understand for the life of me how she could do this… We are DEVASTATED… We are currently in a battle for Justice for our father and our families history being preserved. It is costing us a small fortune that we do not have, including a Texas Attorney, starting with a $5,000.00 retainer & $300 per hour, as well as other expenses tied to the probate costs. And we would love to make a memorial for him. We had to fight this woman to get his ashes sent home, which we paid for as well. It’s been a long sad nightmare and we just want Justice and peace for our Dad…. Any help means everything to us… Much love, hope & appreciation to all.. thank you Sincerely, Thank you, and bless you… The Hawks Family
