Hello again, Some of you may remember me from my last fundraiser when I was in the race to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics. Thanks to the success of the fundraiser, I was able to focus more on my competitions with the funds that were raised and eventually, I qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in 2024! Here is a link to my old fundraiser if you want to get to know me a bit better: https://www.LFEBridge.com/f/josephine039s-road-to-tokyo-2024-olympics Now I am back to try to qualify for my second Olympic Games and I need your help again! After competing in my first Olympic Games, I went home more motivated than ever. On the flight back to Edmonton, I replayed my matches in my mind over and over again, thinking about what areas I lacked most on. I showed up to training the next day eager to fix or close the perceived gaps. With this mindset, I realize that I wasn’t ready to step away from the sport just yet and decided to try again for another Olympic cycle. Since the last Olympics, there has been some changes. I am now playing mixed doubles with a new partner, Ty Lindeman, who was my previous partner before my last Olympic campaign. Ty is also based out of Edmonton and we grew up together training under the same coach. I have also been actively competing in the women’s doubles discipline with Catherine Choi, and now I have the opportunity to qualify in both events for the Paris Olympics. I was focused on mixed doubles during the last Olympic run, but my coach gave me the confidence to pursue both events. It has not been easy balancing two events in training and competition, however, I am proud to say that I am currently ranked 29 in the world for doubles and 36 for mixed doubles. Now here is where I need your help! The past year has been tough for us. After improving exponentially the last two years, lately, it feels like I have plateaued due to the lack of competitive sparring available internationally compared to back at home. Before it felt like I still had a lot to learn from a technical standpoint, but now it feels more like an improvement on a tactical level is needed. Therefore, I have decided that to improve our game further, I will need to train more internationally. The plan is to train overseas in-between tournaments, as we typically have 1-2 week gap from one tournament tour to the next. However, doing so means we are spending even more money as we need to pay for accommodation, food and possibly training. We also lose out on coaching income as we are not home. I need your help in easing this burden for me so that I can once again focus on training and qualifying for the Paris Olympics.
