Thank you all so much for your generosity - we have been able to successfully raise over $11,000 dollars to start an endowed scholarship in Joe's name at North Idaho College for students enrolled in the Boiler Training Program. If you would still like to donate please do so directly to the College visit www.nic.edu/give (Click on Make a Gift Today, From Designate My Gift drop down menu select OTHER, type Joe Kovolyan Memorial in Instructions Box). On July 31st Joe Kovolyan passed away suddenly while working in his role as a Chief Engineer and Boiler operator performing what he was professionally known for. Making sure the job was done right while making his coworkers laugh, mentoring others, and bringing peace of mind to management were all part of a day on the job. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed camping, trail exploring, cutting firewood, fishing, target shooting, and his family including his much-loved fur baby Hank. His family was everything to Joe. He was always there for everyone and ready to help with anything anyone needed. His sense of humor, wit, and personality kept everyone entertained with stories we will share for many years. With his young age and many accomplishments, stories, and experiences from night shifts in Olympia WA to his time as Chief boiler operator of Yellowstone National Park Joe was both a well-known and respected part of the Boiler operators and engineers throughout the Pacific Northwest. Instead of cards or flowers, we ask that you contribute to this fund. Funds raised will be used to establish a memorial scholarship fund in Joe's name. This memorial scholarship fund will help future journeyman apprentices to earn their boiler certifications. With this scholarship, Joe's support for others to reach their goals can live on.
