Robert Gardner was taken from us much too soon, following injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident when the car he was driving with his wife by his side, was hit head on by another driver in his home town of Woodbury, CT on July 29, 2024. Robert, better known as Bob, Bobby or Bobby G, had been a volunteer with Southbury Ambulance Association (SAA) since June 10, 1998, recently marking his 25th anniversary with the organization. He was a dedicated Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) who devoted thousands, yes, thousands, of hours every year, responding to emergencies with SAA. He earned the status of Life Member, a recognition awarded to volunteers for their above and beyond service and dedication to the organization. He served on the vehicle and maintenance committees and served as an officer in 2006. He also trained many staff on driving the ambulances. Bob never missed a training meeting, parade or social gathering. Anyone who volunteered or interacted with Bob will remember him for his contagious laugh, witty sense of humor, and always having his Dunkin' hot coffee in hand. Above all, his love and generosity for caring for others was something all emergency responders will remember him by. This LFEBridge has been set up to help cover the unexpected financial expenses following the loss of a wonderful father, husband, brother, friend and volunteer.
