Dear friends and community, It is with heavy hearts that we come together to mourn the unexpected passing of our beloved friend, Rick Hansen, at the young age of 48. Rick leaves behind his loving wife, Stephanie, and their four children, aged 9 to 18. We are devastated by this loss, and we want to rally around the Hansen family during this difficult time. Many of us have fond memories of Rick from different stages of his life. Some of you knew him during his time at Eastern College/University, where he diligently worked on the beautiful campus grounds as a student. Others remember him from Court Street Baptist Church in Auburn, Maine, where he grew up and built the foundation of his faith. Rick's dedication to serving others was evident in his role at Camp Sentinel, nestled in the foothills of the Ossipee Mountain range in New Hampshire. More recently, he served as the co-director, caretaker, and board member for China Lake Camp, situated on the serene shores of beautiful China Lake in Maine. These places held special meaning for Rick, and they all had one thing in common - a deep connection to nature and a commitment to serving others, inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. We don't need to list the numerous examples of how Rick always put others before himself, loved his family fiercely, and showed unwavering kindness and patience to everyone he met. To know Rick was to be welcomed as a friend instantly, with open arms and love. We cherish the memories of his selflessness and the positive impact he made on so many lives. Rick and Stephanie dedicated years of service to China Lake Camp while raising their own financial support. Rick was never one to ask for help, but we know that during this time, they need our support more than ever. Let's come together to honor Rick's memory and extend a helping hand to Stephanie and their children.
