Hi, my name is Charles “Chad” Platt. The time has come that my family and I was not prepared for. This campaign is being raised in honor of the passing of my mother, Sheila Elaine Harvey. My sister Sabrina and I hope to be able to raise enough funds to assist in various memorial service expenditures and put her to rest the way she deserves. *Update 11/9/23: Thanks to your kindness and support we were able to hold a beautiful celebration of life at Seascape Resort in Aptos on what would have been my mothers 57th year around the sun. I am now fundraising via #CallYourMom clothing to complete my efforts in providing a resting spot for my mother where others can visit and honor her memory. There is a beautiful Mariposa garden near Santa Cruz Memorial where I plan on adding my mothers plaque. We are about $2500 short of this goal so to complete this effort I have started a clothing brand to help raise the funds. There is nothing as powerful as a mothers love. Our first friend, best friend, and forever friend. They say the influence of a mother in the lives of her children is beyond calculation and for me this couldn’t be more true. I was blessed to have such a compassionate mom who truly believed in and supported all of my dreams. I know the journey I’m on is not a unique one but many crumble and lose themselves after the loss of a parent. Its been difficult to carry on but all I want to do is honor her in every way I know how. If I truly am my mothers living legacy I want to immortalize her beauty forever. Through how I treat strangers, how I walk through this world now that she’s gone, and most importantly through my art. I’ve always had a creative eye and passion for design but nothing inspired me to really follow through. Since my mothers passing there has been a fire inside me to pay tribute to her in this way. Something that anyone can take a look at resonate with. #CallYourMom is a reminder that tomorrow may never come. A reminder to all regardless of how close you are that you only get one mother. They say tomorrow isn’t promised but I lost my mom within hours of getting off the phone with her. I’m just grateful I was able to call her, grateful I had it in my heart to call and check in and just share my gratitude, appreciation and love for her. Local pickup/drop off available in Santa Cruz otherwise I can calculate shipping following GFM donation. Our mother was suddenly taken from us Wednesday afternoon, August 2nd. She was an amazingly caring soul that would often stretch herself thin to be in service to others. She truly had a heart of gold. Whether it was cooking an amazing meal for you, ensuring your service was top notch, offering a rides and a listening ear, or giving meaningful advice (even if it meant tough love), she gave so much of herself with her whole heart. She brought love and laughter to anyone who she encountered and was an inspiration to many! Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with a mother. I don’t how she managed to do it but her love has always kept me safe and guided me to stay on the right path. It’s been so difficult to process she’s really gone. I know she’s gained her wings and is watching over from above. I find peace in knowing she is at peace, but selfishly I’d do anything to bring her back even if just for a moment. When you look into your mothers eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth. Love you mama❤️ As I may not have all the right words to say at this moment I hope you all can find it in your hearts to help us lay mom to rest. Anything helps no matter how small.
