With a heavy heart, I regret to share that Bird has left us to miss him in this life until we join him again in a better place. Today I am calling all who knew him to celebrate a man who taught us all that family is more than what we are born into... it is what we call the meaningful relationships we forge in love, kindness, and uncompromising integrity. He could light up any room with his laughter, defuse any problem with a smile, and fill any heart with his joy for life. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Bird passed on July 12, 2024 in the Dominican Republic. He is still there and we need to bring him home so that his eight year old son, Chief, can say goodbye and we can establish his father's final resting place. My name is Andre Silva. I was Bird's life-long friend and former roommate. I am working with his uncle Frank and his partner Danielle to bring him home. Bird's passing was unexpected and we are trying to figure out how to get him home and in a good resting place. We understand there will be a funeral home expense in the Dominican Republic of somewhere around $4000, the flight back to Los Angeles another $4000, and receiving and local funeral expenses another $6000. Because Bird honorably served his country, we are hoping to find him a resting place in a military cemetery without costs other than transportation. If we cannot find a spot in a military cemetery, there will likely be another $25,000 in costs. We are hoping to raise enough funds to completely cover all the funeral expenses and have some left over to place into a trust account for Bird's son, Chief, who is eight years old. Any money raised here and not spent on funeral costs will go into a trust fund for Chief and when he turns eighteen, after years in the stock market, will hopefully have enough to buy a car or help towards college. Help us not only pay to bring Bird home, but also let his son Chief know how many people cared about and loved his dad by contributing. Large donations are great, but small donations are great too. On behalf of all his friends, his surviving son Chief and his mother Danielle - Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Andre
