On Saturday, July 22nd, 2024 Jim and Lauri Strain, along with siblings Jake and Summer, lost Ian their son and brother to mental illness. Ian accomplished so much in his 21 years. He played sports from Kindergarten through High School. He played football all four years at Templeton High School and remained in contact with many of his teammates and childhood friends. After high school he continued his education at Cuesta College and Sonoma State University. While attending Sonoma State he was so proud to have made the College Dean's List. Ian also took a semester to study abroad in Jaen, Spain. He met great friends while there and enjoyed traveling, seeing new places and visiting areas throughout Spain and France. Ian completed his two year degree and planned to continue his education this August at San Marcos State University to eventually graduate with his bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Ian loved spending time with his family and friends, listening to music, reading classic novels, playing all of his guitars, eating healthy, working out, and being outdoors where he enjoyed meditating. The Strains are immensely appreciative of the love and support they have felt from everyone near and far. Due to this sudden loss, any contribution to cover expenses while the family is grieving would be greatly appreciated. Any remaining funds will go to the Ian Strain Memorial Fund for mental health awareness.
