I never thought I’d type out those words. We have never asked for financial assistance from our friends or family. We never intended to. That was my purpose, to provide for her, which I did as best as I could. And will continue to do so until all that needs to be done, has been done. Up until now it’s only ever been necessities, an old car loan, and most recently, hospital bills. But I admit, I’m spread incredibly thin, so I’ll get straight to it. My name is Maria Favela; to most I am known as Mia. I am the daughter of one incredible mother, Adelaida Favela. She is 73 years old, 5’5”, a little shy of 150lbs. Loves babies, dogs and God. And is rumored to have the only known direct method of contact for Jesus Christ himself. She is a prayer warrior who’s only ever given what she can to whom she can and has never asked for anything in return; honestly. She is a Grandma to three beautiful and amazing women and one Pittie. A loving, self sacrificing, giving Mother to myself, her Son in Prison and Yorkie at home. She is beloved in her community for walking around with her little cart and Yorkie, and taking her local Citilink Transportation system to get around Rain, Snow, or Shine. If you live in the city of Ft. Wayne Indiana the chances are high you have met this sweet old woman at some point and she has been kind and loving, quick to be your friend. And on Friday August 4th at 5pm, I will be withdrawing her from Life Support at Parkview Regional Health. I will be sitting by her side and praying that she hears me when I tell her how much she’s made an impact on all our lives. How much I love her. And that no matter what, she can rest in peace because all will be fine. So that’s where the LFEBridge comes in, if there’s a dollar you can donate, it will help immensely. She never wanted a cremation, she wanted a burial. But alas, that takes a lot more funding and I am my mothers daughter. Reluctant to ask for anything at all. So we’re keeping it simple. A cremation. And if we get the funding, a memorial. And if the funding isn’t there, than I will take her on the road trip of her life. Over 2000 miles of this beautiful country to see places she only could afford a wish to see. Thank you for your time and consideration. And as she would say, “Thank you so much, God Bless you.”
