UPDATE: Wrangler had a needle aspiration biopsy procedure on his lymph nodes on Friday to see if the Cancer has spread and we received great news today it has NOT spread! The cancer is still localized to the nasal area but has spread through the wall that separates each side, therefore preventing him from having Nasal Electrochemotherapy. Wrangler will now be receiving Palliative Radiation Therapy with Dr. Rosen in Yonkers. Wrangler will receive 4 treatments, one treatment a week, in hopes it will shrink the tumor, stop it from growing, help him breathe better, and put the Cancer in remission for a while. Unfortunately, Nasal Squamous Cell Carcinoma is not curable, but we are hoping this will extend his time here and help him to be more comfortable. It can go into remission for up to 10 months and he will be able to receive the radiation one other time after this. The cost of this is significantly less than the original plan ($34,000 less!) and I can't thank each and every one of you enough for the donations you have made and the many prayers and cards that were sent! He's still happy, eating, running around, and playing. He's a fighter! Hi, my name is Kimberly and along with my husband Michael, we are hoping to raise money to help our dog Wrangler fight Nasal Cancer. Wrangler was experiencing chronic rhinitis with new facial deformation with bilateral discharge from his muzzle. On May 25, 2024, Wrangler had a CT Scan and Cup Biopsy and was diagnosed with Nasal Squamous cell carcinoma. Nasal squamous cell carcinomas are characterized by aggressive local infiltration and invasive of the underlying bone and a moderate rate of metastasis to draining lymph nodes. In Wrangler's case, his mass extends through the lytic areas of the walls of the left frontal sinus and nasal cavities into the subcutaneous tissues and the soft tissues along the dorsal and left lateral aspects of the muzzle. We are hoping to stop the spread before it extends into the brain. After many consultations with Oncologist, we found one at the Animal Surgical Center in LI, who is optimistic that along with Nasal Electrochemotherapy and Gene Electro Transfer, he can beat this. Unfortunately, this treatment comes with a hefty price that his pet insurance states they will NOT cover due to his preexisting medical conditions. Michael and I have already spent out of pocket about, if not more than, $7,000 just for the CT scan, biopsy, medications, and oncologist consults. The oncologist states for it to be fully effective he would need four rounds of treatments each 2 weeks apart. Each treatment costs $10,739.33. Wrangler has been with us since he was 3 months old when we rescued him from Take Me Home Pet rescue, or should I say he rescued us. Wrangler is now 8 years old. He is smart, loving, and still full of so much life. Though his facial features continue to change as the mass continues to grow and fluid builds around it, it has not stopped him from living his best life and being happy. He continues to grab his favorite toy, his cheeseburger, run around the yard with it and place it in our laps to say "Grab it, I dare you". He has an appetite greater than ours and still gets excited to see us, for his favorite treats, loves ice cream, going to the beach, and continues to wag his tail to tell us "I'm happy!" Besides his appearance and breathing, you would never even know he had the dreadful C word! He's still a puppy at heart! It's not his time to go and as long as Wrangler wants to and continues to fight, so will we. For those of you who know me, you know I would never ask for help if I thought I could do this on my own. Stubborn and fiercely independent and afraid to ask for help. That's me! So it has taken a lot for me to write this and ask for help from everyone. Time is of the essence for him to receive this treatment so we are reaching out to friends, family, friends of friends, and anyone who can and wants to help. If you could share this on your page and forward it to any of your friends/family we would greatly appreciate it. Wrangler, Michael, and I would be forever grateful! Besides sharing and donating prayers and positive thoughts are always appreciated! With much love and gratitude, Wrangler, Kimberly, and Michael XOXO
