Hi, I am Wei-Yi Lin. I am a Taiwanese actress who is about to become the first Linklater Voice designated teacher in Taiwan's history. I met Kristin Linklater in 2009 at Columbia University's MFA Acting program. She was my voice teacher and later became my mentor. I realized that my voice had fundamental change and improved which helped my professional acting career tremendously mainly because of Linklater Voice. I was in awe of what Kristin's teaching can do for any actor. Long story short, I started my designation journey in 2015, for I would love to share this experience with my fellow Taiwanese actors and hopefully introduce a healthy voice training system into actors' education. I had been working closely with Kristin and Andrea Haring since, to gain more experience and knowledge on Linklater Voice and its pedagogy. 8 years later, I am on the final step of designation. In August 2024, I will be taking the Part II designation workshop in Italy---I am so close! This is where I need YOUR HELP! Education and traveling are expensive, especially when you are on the other side of the earth. In the last two years, I was able to get funding or grants from my government and Fran Benett Scholarship (I am forever grateful). However, I am not as lucky this year. I was able to gather enough money for the tuition of the designation workshop, but the flight tickets and lodging would get me back into credit card debt... Please help me with your coffee money, 5 dollars or 10 dollars can help tremendously, this is also the first time I asked for help publicly. In my culture, it's hard to ask for help publicly as it's a show of weakness. But Linklater also teaches me that if your desire is bigger than your fear, you will step forward and make the change for yourself. I am asking for help--on a personal level, I need to pass on Linklater's legacy (as I can't imagine anyone else from Taiwan doing it); on a broad level, this might change the future of Taiwanese actors as I would love to dedicate my fortunate life on voice education for actors in my beloved country. The money will only cover flight tickets, tax, travel expenses, insurance, and hotel stays between transfers. There are no financial gains or profits at all. If there's any money left, it will go into the free panels I will hold after I am designated in Taiwan. The panels will be about what Linklater Voice is, and what I have experienced and learned on my designation journey. Thank you for reading, I appreciate your time. Wei-Yi
