Ironman World Championships Kona, Hawaii, 14th October 2024 Anything is possible. ‘…It has been a lifelong dream of mine to qualify and race in the Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. ***Gaining the slot for Ironman Kona- and the first ever 'Women Only' edition) Qualifying races are held all around the world and are fiercely competitive. I earned my spot on that Kona start line (the first ever Women’s Only edition) via Ironman Nice 2024, in France… It’s the perfect opportunity to represent Women and their place in Elite Sport.’ Valeria Sesto For Valeria, this is the culmination of decades of arduous preparation. Every event, one small (and some huge) step towards this incredible start line. The Kona World Championships is the biggest and most iconic event in the World of triathlon. With a 2.4 mile/3.8km swim, a 112 mile/ 180km bike and a 26.2 mile/42km marathon run, the Hawaii Kona course is deemed to be the hardest of all courses. I know *everyone who has been touched by Valeria’s support and enthusiasm will get behind her so that she reaches that start line on Oct 14th wrapped in support. How can you help? Reach out and comment on all of her social media platforms highlighting how she has supported you/ your family/ friends along your personal growth journey. If it’s possible, donate, to help her finance this last leap to Kona 10% of all funds will be directed to the Magenta Project Charity; to promote and support Women in Sport. ‘…To have gained a place is half of the ‘dream come true’. Being able to line up in Kona, will be an opportunity of a lifetime. I am privileged and grateful to still be able to compete at this high level. Being a 50-year-old woman, raising two beautiful children with Clive, I have balanced coaching others in my community whilst role modelling what may be possible IF you set your heart and soul to it. Over the years I have trained hundreds of children and adults, including many girls and women of all ages, to become athletes and to go beyond the boundaries of what they thought was possible, mentally and physically.
