We never thought we would be these people: the people who spend thousands of dollars on a dog OR the people who ask for help. Please don’t feel any obligation! But if you are willing to help us with the costs it took to save our dog, we would be most grateful. We have had our sweet boy Finn since he was young, about 8 years now. We lost our other beloved pup, Chase, about a year ago after he was attacked and never fully recovered. Two weeks ago, we attended a wonderful adoption event to find Finn a friend. We brought home Honey, a sweet young Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, and the two dogs instantly hit it off. They were running and chasing each other around like puppies! Unbeknownst to us, Honey came home with kennel cough. We were ignorant and ill-informed, and we didn’t know the risk to Finn. Within days, he developed a cough and then started coughing up mucus. I brought him to the vet that day and he started antibiotics. But then he stopped eating. Called the vet, more meds. And then his breathing became labored. Called the vet, they said bring him straight to the emergency vet. Based on my description of his breathing, they RAN out to get him. He has been there for three nights with a severe case of pneumonia. The cost of his care has been astronomical due to the isolation room for his contagious condition as well as the regular care, oxygen, and medications he has needed. At first, we weren’t sure he would make it. Thanks to his care at Blue Pearl, he is coming home today! If you would consider helping with a donation of any size, it would mean the world to us. We will pay this off for ten years if we have to - we are just so grateful that Finn made it. ❤️
