Hi my name is Tracy Zustra, I am the founder and wildlife rehabilitator at Berkshire County Turtle Rescue, Inc. I currently rehab wildlife out of my home and space has become very limited.  This past year we had a large increase in the number of turtles that have needed our help. We took in 72 wild turtles 68 were hit by cars, 1 attacked by a dog, and 3 with eye injuries and hatched over 100 turtles. We currently have 23 Turtles in our care for the winter. We also took in 8 opossums, a groundhog, triaged several birds, a skunk, 3 bunnies and a squirrel before transporting them to other wildlife clinics. Our space is currently maxed out.  Come early spring we expect more turtles to admit to our clinic, however the turtles in our care won't be ready for release until late spring/early summer. This puts us in a tough place as far a space goes.  We need to build a wildlife rehabilitation clinic to be able to accommodate more turtles.  We are a 501(C)3 Nonprofit Organization and are not funded by the city or state. We are also the only wild turtle rescue in all of Western Massachusetts. Every year our patient intake increases, which means we need to expand so that we can help more turtles. The money raised will go towards building a clinic, running power to it and all the proper habitats and supplies needed for turtle rehabilitation. Thank you all so much for the support. Together our community can help ensure a future for turtles!
