Hello everyone. I am here to humbly ask for financial and emotional support on behalf of an amazing U.S. Veteran and one of my heroes! Here are some words straight from her for your heart to read…“Good day! Those of you who have met my Service Dog, Shar, know that she works well with me and other Veterans at Healing Warrior Hearts. She’s also very friendly with anyone we’ve met in airports, on planes, stores and restaurants. What you don’t know is that Shar was recently diagnosed with AGASACA. A very invasive and aggressive Anal Sac Cancer. I’ll be meeting with the Surgical Oncologist at the Purdue Small Animal Hospital tomorrow at 1100 as I drop Shar off for surgery. They’ll be removing the baseball sized tumor, 2-lymph glands and her spleen. When we meet with the Surgeon, my main question will be her quality of life if we follow through with the surgery tomorrow. I cannot in my heart of hearts let her suffer. I’ve already decided that if we do go through with the surgery and they lose her on the table, they are to let her go peacefully and not in pain. I’ll spend time with her after and then she’ll be cremated. If, as I pray to God Shar does well, they say it’ll be around a 2-week recovery period with some bladder and bowel incontinence during that time. I’m praying that I make the best decision for my Best Friend, Sharra. She was donated to me by a Friend, Shannon M Kiley Dvm and her Husband, Virgil. Just prior to her training by Shannon, Pam J Casey and Karen Sgroi, I was hospitalized and in ICU for a combination stroke and seizure. They knew I was looking at getting a new Service Dog with Semper Fido. They learned what she needed to be trained on for PTSD and TBI and got her trained.Shar was a God send after losing my previous Service Dog, Ebony, three years prior. Shar has been an awesome Service Dog for me, Therapy Dog for Veterans at Healing Warrior Hearts and the Veterans/Staff at the VA. She’s been my Guardian, Protector, Bedmate, Foot Warmer and Alarm for anyone visiting the property. She’s reminded me when to take medication, when to go to bed, when to get up and get out in the world again. She’s helped me learn to love again, show affection, smile, laugh, cry, get involved with Veterans and grow closer with Family and Friends. She watches my back and blocks if too many people crowd me. During a meeting with the Spouses of Vietnam Veterans in Michigan, she brought me out of an emotional talk with the Spouses by getting on my lap and kissing my face. She did the same at the Harlingen Airport in Texas after a run in with TSA. Needless to say, three TSA Agents were fired on the spot that day for not providing my wallet with the Veteran’s Crisis Line, my phone to call them and lying about them being the Supervisor. It was chaotic. I cannot thank Shar enough for all she’s done for me. I may feed her, walk her, take her to the Veterinarian and out for Pup Cups after; but, what I do for her is not nearly what she’s done for me. So, please, keep Sharra in your prayers tomorrow. It will be a rough day. Thank you and God Bless.” Tammy and Shar are feeling our good juju, light, love and prayers but they still have a bit of a way to go with this long process physically, emotionally and financially. Between the surgery costs, gas to and from appointments, medication, special items needed during recovery, Tammy is going to be pulling a lot from her set normal month to month budget. These two heroes should not have to be worried about anything other than their recovery. I'm humbling asking you, because Tammy never would, to send her some financial love. Skipping your morning coffee stop or happy hour stop will go a long way in paying the already climbing vet bill. Thank you in advance. Tammy and Shar, you have an army of supporters behind you two. Fight to the good fight and we will keep praying!!
