Hello, my name is Nicole-longtime friend of Travis and Andrea. I was dog sitting Tater and Tux for them, so that they could enjoy a summertime vacation. Unfortunately, Tux got bitten twice by a 4’ Eastern Diamond-back Rattle snake. He was rushed to the vet and is currently on vial 7 of antivenom and a 2+ day stay at UF. The vet bill is continuing to grow. No one wants to go on and pay for a vacation, and come home to thousands in unexpected vet bills. If anyone would like to lessen the blow for our dear friends, please chip in a bit! Let’s bless our friends <3 Thank you *Tux update #2*-From Travis 8/4/23 PM Tux won't eat yet. His kidney function wasn't so hot this morning, so he is getting fluids, and a recheck this evening. The most recent dose of antivenom was late this morning. Amen!! The Vet tech said he is getting fed up with their poking and prodding, and is showing his appreciation by snarling at them every time they open his door. Most importantly, our family is loved by so many people. Nicole Lopez thank you for setting up the go fund me. It was definitely a surprise! All of you who have given up the money you spent your precious time earning...our family LOVES you, and are extremely humbled by your generosity. Regardless of the outcome, we are so thankful for all the prayers, and all the different modes of support from text messages, donations, FB messages, and phone calls! UPDATE #3 8/5/23 AM Tux got a special visit today today to lift his spirits. Travis says his urine is very dark but labs are finally improving. However, he needs another vial of antivenom and night stay in the hospital. I’ve increased the goal a bit due to the continuing increasing costs. Thank you everyone for your generosity so far! UPDATE #4- 8/5/23 PM He had to get another vial of antivenom today. His mouth started to swell up pretty bad overnight. They found another bite under his chin. He urine looks like coffee ground brown water. It's difficult for him to walk. The venom caused swelling, and vasculitis on his chest, mouth, and entire right leg. He is having to stay another night due to the new mouth swelling, and continued antivenom need. His CK was 65,000. His creatinine has come back down, and his albumin is coming back up. Good news there. He might come.home tomorrow. Here are some pictures for reference. Thank you all again for your continued prayers, messages, and support. Reagan is astonished at the outpouring of love for her little man. UPDATE 5? 8/6/23 evening Tux got to go home! His hematocrit stayed the same. UPDATE 6 -8/7/23 morning From Travis: Got Tux at 6PM last night. He began having bloody stool at 11PM. Stayed up all night due to his frequent diarrhea. Took him back to the UF Emergency Vet at 4am. His Crit dropped from 18 to 16. She said he likely has Shock Colon from reinvenomation(When swelling begins to decrease, venom that is trapped due to inflammation starts to release). He is getting a blood transfusion, and likely more antivenom. Please keep up the prayers. We appreciate it. Reagan appreciates it! It's now almost 6am and Reagan and I are going to bed. Good night! We love you all. *Pupdate #7 for Tux* 8/9/23 from travis For those who have been following, I apologize for not giving an update as of late. We have just been on an emotional roller coaster for the past 2 days. Getting him back, and watching him deteriorate over an 8 hour period was exhausting. Obviously not as exhausting as Tux has been, but tiring still. Tux had to get a blood transfusion. His Crit went up to a lovely 29, but then dropped to 26 by this morning. He had to get another 2 vials of antivenom as well. His blood is still hemolyzing so venom is still seeping in. The doc said he is suffering from something called "Persistent Envenomation". She said there isn't much literature to go buy as it is difficult to study. As his swelling goes down, little pockets of venom trapped in his tissue are finally coming out in small constant doses. We are waiting on another test here shortly to find out if his Crit keeps going down. If not, he can come home, but if so, he will have to stay for more vials of antivenom. Once again, thank you all for your time, your prayers, your concern, your donations, and your messages. We could not imagine a greater group of people supporting us in every facet possible. We love you all, and will continue to pray for Reagan's college move-in buddy. UPDATE # 8- maybe the final update 8/9/23 evening Ayyy yo!!!!! He's coming home!! His blood stopped hemolyzing. he is much more energetic. He is SUPER peppy! You folks, and everything you have given, are so awesome!!! Amen! God and science are the best duo EVER!!
