As many of you may or may not know, 3 years ago I took a leap of faith and quit my job in corporate America to pursue my passion for saving animals. What started as a small, foster based rescue geared to help community cats and kittens, has grown into a brick and mortar shelter where at any given time we have upwards of 300 animals of all different kinds. This journey hasn’t come without its struggles, but the need from the community was so great, that we had no choice but to grow faster than originally planned. But with this growth, comes great financial struggles. We spend anywhere from $10,000-$20,000 a month on vet care alone. Our mission to to help animals highest at risk of euthanasia and many of those animals are medical cases, special needs and behavioral cases. All of these animals are ones that many other shelters don’t have the ability to take in, and these specialized cases have additional financial burdens. Our facility is beautiful and amazing, but being that it started as an old church, and is 7000 sq ft, our electric bills are almost $2000 a month. Add that to the other utility bills, food, litter, medications and our expenses outweigh what we are continuing to bring in for donations. We are struggling. I understand what’s happening in the world around us, and everyone has felt the effects of price increases, and our shelter is no different. Our adoptions are down, and so are our donations. Without the continued support of the community we can’t continue to save the lives that we do. So I’m here to ask for your support. If you know me, you know that this work is so important to not only me, but all the animals we help within our community. This beautiful shelter and community we’ve built together is my purpose. It is the motivation that gets me up every morning. It took me over 30 years to find the reason I’m on this planet, and it’s to save animals. I can’t imagine a world where I am doing anything else. Please consider donating to help support our mission so that we can be part of this community for many more years to come. If you can’t support us financially, that’s ok too! There are so many other ways to help our shelter by fostering, volunteering, adopting, starting a fundraiser or even just telling people you know about the work we do for animals. I can’t do this without all of you. Please help me save my shelter and all the animals who we care for every single day.
